Welcome to my web site. Thank you for dropping in... Whether you know my books, or are just getting acquainted, I hope you find something of interest here. If you want to know about the books, you'll find the answers (I hope) on the Recent Books and Latest Book pages. If you want to know about me (but I'm dull; much better read the books) there's Sophie Herself. Questions I've been asked about the way I work are answered at Ask Away. Books I found for myself and would like to share are on Sophie's Bookshelf. Romance gets a bad press. Some people think this is due, if I may misquote Oscar Wilde, to the worst excesses of the Women's Movement. But knocking romance has been a sport for a lot longer than that. (I even confess to a personal weakness for P G Wodehouse's monstrous Romantic Novelist, Rosie M Banks.) Poor old Jane Austen had the same sort of problem, having to defend her characters for reading 'only a novel' in 'Northanger Abbey'. So - confusion to the po-faced trouts who think we should all be reading books of sermons, or whatever the twenty-first century equivalent is! My two penn'orth is at Why Romance? If you want to quote anything you find on this site, I'm very flattered. Can I just ask you to acknowledge its source and to let me know? Best,
Sophie |
