Sophie’s News Winter 2005

New Book

The Cinderella Factor is out in the UK in May. The misguided international journalist hero has walked with me a long time. Let me know if you love him as much as I do. Synopsis and extract here.

Discussion

As part of the Writers at Roehampton programme of talks open to the public, I shall be sharing a platform with lecturer, and author of the The Reading Groups Book (2002), Jenny Hartley, at the University of Roehampton on Tuesday May 10th at 7.00pm. We will asking ourselves, ‘What do readers want?’ If you have any contributions, do please email me. You’ll be very welcome, if you can come along. See www.roehampton.ac.uk/writers for more information.

Even Newer Book

Getting the Point - a twelve step guide to panic-free punctuation for adults, will be published by Floris Books. This been a labour of love for me and my co-author Elizabeth Hawksley and we are seriously chuffed that it will soon be out there.

My mate Andy found our Learner Driver’s Guide to Punctuation as he was leafing through the manuscript. (He was actually looking for the sexy bits; he lives in hope.) ‘Hey, if you can drive you can punctuate,’ he said, astonished. ‘I can do this!’

Yes!!!!

And that’s why we wrote the book.
